I never understood why greens sell so cheaply. For example, I have a Victos Battle axe that cost me 30k.

On the axe, it has a perfect sundering mod (20/20) and a perfect +30 hp mod.

These two mods on a gold weapon would cost about 50k, plus a good 5-10k for a 9 req clean 15>50 axe.

So why would people be willing to pay almost double for a gold, that is identicle to a green thats half the price?

Green=common and ALWAYS drop perfectly modded.
Gold=rare and they usually don't come with perfect stats.
I'm surprised some greens cost more than 50k to be honest. You cannot really compare greens to goldies... Think about this: how many warriors use a Victo's axe? I bet more than 100.000. How many warriors have a perfectly modded gold sephis axe with the same stats? More than 100? Meh... And how many people have a perfect max dmg sickle (same skin as Victos)? 0. There you go.

It also comes down to skins, which some are rarer in gold than green (not always though).

Vanity. A green is something everything can have. There are a lot of vain people in GW

Some greens are extremely common, golds are complete random chance. The rarer or more popular greens cost a ton. Good golds are hard to come by though

One of the most important things in my mind though as to why good golds outweigh greens, is that they are modular, so new mods can be added if desired to a great weapon. This is much better than a green which are static.

Greens can be expensive. I sold Victo's Bulwark for 200k back when it was hot. But typically...see above.

The reason i hate greens , which also means why i would pay more for a gold then a green is,Golds you can mod, Greens you cant.

Thats the main reason for me.

Most greens can be farmed by idiots with copycat builds. A flooded market means bargain pricing.

greens can be farmed are always the same and cannot be salvaged for mods whereas a gold is able to be salvaged for those precious 20/20 mods and is rare to get perfect

You also have an issue where golds might be a lower req than the greens. A req 9 will be fine for most situations, but you might come across an occasional build you'd want to try that divides your stats between multiple categories. Even if it doesn't happen a lot, its still something the green wouldn't handle as well as a low req gold. This can also work against you though, as a high req on a gold can easily bring its value way down.

greens are cheap perfect weapons and thats exactly why they were made... id rather get greens for relatively cheap than ebay gold to buy my perfect weps for gvg...

as for why greens are so cheap.... well the answer to that is simple as ECON 101....

supply and demand..

too much supply and very tiny demand.... when greens first come out they are more expensive than most golds... a recent case would be Kanaxai's Axe that went for 100k + 170e, now the axe goes for around ~100k +-5E... soon it will be cheap.. real cheap... victo's axe when I got it on the first day went for 100k + 80E and it went down to around 30k.. its all about how cool the weapon looks that affects the demand.. many say kanaxais axe is too small but the skin is nice so we'd have to wait and see.

people also sell it for cheap because they are in a hurry to get rid of them... so to get a buy fast they might undersell the item from the market's norm.

Only green I really use is Ghials Staff as for the past 11 months I've never had a Death Magic +1 Staff Wrapping on any Golds from drops or chests, and I was quite pleased when the staff dropped for me.

I've made clones of various other collectors staffs and before it dropped was using a DM+1 Focus, so yeah it wasn't that important to spend in the region of 60K for essentially the same setup, but it was a nice bonus when it was free

The current system prevents WoW style gear economics. This way you CAN have a cool weapon without raiding for 36 days straight, or paying some chinese 1$ per 1 gold.....

Mhh you can buy a normal skin sword with a req 8 +15>50 for less than 10k... Why does everyone thinks that you must ebay to have some cash?? If you have a even little knowledge of this game you won't have money problems...

I wrote a nice long post explaining Greens through the game and how they have changed and all of that.

But it ate by the Database Error Monster, so you'll settle for this one...

The only Greens that are worth anything are the Rare ones, or the Perfect ones.

This used to not be the case...

Becuase greens are boring and farmed to death. I prefer to build/craft my own weapons from Blue collector items. I have a pefect Insight Healing Staff of Healing Prayers that has never let me down, and at the time I built it, there was no green like it.

Face it, no body likes the guy switches through all of his greens calling them as he goes

-dye
-Have the normal prefix/suffix name not some boss's _______
-get golds with same stats--> they are way rarer
-easily get skins on staffs with perfect inherent mods, as opposed to greens
